Reminders from the office...
-
Winter Clothing: Please make sure that your child brings a warm coat, hat, mittens, snow pants and boots to school each day for outside recess. These items should come to school with your student even if you think they might be inside for the day. Make sure that all items are marked with your child’s name. The district guideline is 10 degrees temperature and/or 0 degrees wind chill as acceptable for students to go outside. Anything BELOW these marks will warrant inside recess. The temperatures are checked throughout the day.
-
Morning Drop Off: The front door of school (Door #1) does not open for students in the morning until 7:40 am when the first bell rings. Students should be entering school and going to the playground through Door #2 in the morning prior to 7:40 am. ALSO, it is preferred that parents not walk with their students to the classrooms in the morning. By this time of year, all students should be independent and able to get themselves ready for class. Parents needing to talk with a teacher should e-mail the teacher to schedule a convenient time.
-
Attendance: Lately, we have had many students getting picked up "just a few minutes early". Please note that this is not a good practice as your students gets marked absent even for just a few minutes. These minutes add up, and the state only allows 10 excused absences per year. In addition, when parents attend field trips that get back early and you choose to take your child home with you prior to 2:45 pm, that time is also considered an absence.

Kiwanis Food Drive & Magic Show
Franklin Elementary School is now collecting food and hygiene items for the annual Mid-Morning Kiwanis Food Drive. Our school goal is 1,350 canned/non-perishable food items or hygiene products.
Collections will run November 20 to December 5
The Student Council is running a contest to see who can bring in the most items. The contest will be between the Primary Wing (Grades KG-2) and the Intermediate Wing (Grades 3-5). The Wing that brings in the most items will get a special treat from the Student Council. Please turn items into your class’ collection box to ensure that they get counted. All-School Field Trip
Exciting news! As a school, we made our goal of 150 class feathers. Our special celebration for making our goal is going to the movies to see “Playmobil the Movie”! All students and staff will be going on Thursday, December 19. Permission slips will be coming home with students for this event soon including the cost of attendance.
Wondering what to buy your child’s teacher?
We can help!
Look for the “wishlist“ tree in front of the office. Find the ornament with the teacher's name you want to buy for. The ornament has some suggestions of things that that teacher would like for their classroom.
The "wishlist" Tree is up now!
Thank you so much for your support during our preparation and presentation of our Winter Concert 2019! Thank you for supporting your child's music education by practicing at home and attending the concert. I am so proud of the work that the students put in and the ownership they took of their concert. I am unbelievably proud to be their music teacher.

Donations can also be made online at: Franklin Elementary School Donation Page and will be counted toward your child’s classroom total.
What’s Happening in Guidance?
In December we are focusing on Empathy and Critical Thinking! Working together to build a stronger school community. Students are asked to view situations through the eyes of another. We talk about putting ourselves in someone else’s shoes. And thinking before reacting to a situation.
