Mrs. Tiedt’s

Parent Connection

Dear Franklin Family,

I’ve created a mailbox for you to reach me by clicking on the following link: Mrs. Tiedt's Parent Referral Mailbox. You may also reach me via email: nicole.tiedt@oshkosh.k12.wi.us or by phone at 920-424-0078 ext 1528.

I am in each classroom every other week teaching guidance lessons. Please ask your student about the website that I’ve created for them as well. Click here to check out Mrs. Tiedt's Counselor Connection Website.

This is a stressful time for everyone. Remember we are here for you. If you need anything, check out this Oshkosh Area Community Resources link

If your family is experiencing difficulty at home, I would like to provide additional support at school. I understand that you are not always able to share details and that’s okay. If your child is coming to school after a difficult night, morning, or weekend, please call me and just tell me to “Handle with Care.” Nothing else needs to be said or asked. This will let me know that your child may need extra time, patience, or help throughout the day. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. We are all in this together.

Check below to see what’s happening this month in guidance!

What’s Happening in Guidance?

In March we are focusing on conflict, teamwork and problem solving! Working together through communication in order to build a stronger school community.

Students will also be provided with the resources needed to solve problems that may arise throughout the day whether in the classroom, at recess, or even at home. Some helpful resources include learning the steps to solving a problem, how to appropriately use “I Messages”, and different ways to problem solve. Ask your child about some of the ways they can use to try to solve a problem they might face.

Here’s a fun video shared with students’ to see how Ormie the Pig tries to solve a problem he has.

     Ormie the Pig Problem Solves.

Wishing you well,

Nicole Tiedt

Out-of-Attendance-Area School Applications to Attend Another School IN the Oshkosh District

Due by Friday, February 25, 2022 for the 2022-23 school year

The Oshkosh Area School District allows parents of resident students to request attendance at a school other than their home school in the district. All requests will be handled administratively following district policy, including compliance with W.I.A.A. rules, when appropriate. Out-of-Attendance Area application forms with district guidelines are available on the school district website at the following link: https://www.oshkosh.k12.wi.us/families/enrollment

Parents requesting a K-12 out-of-attendance area school for their child must submit an application no later than February 25, 2022. The district will notify parents via e-mail by the end of April as to whether their request is approved or denied. Any requests received after the deadline may be held for review until after district-wide registration is completed in August 2022.

Public School Open Enrollment to Other School Districts

Applications due by 4:00 p.m. on April 29, 2022

Wisconsin’s inter-district public school open enrollment program allows parents to apply for their children to attend school districts other than the one in which they live.

Students in 4-year-old Kindergarten to Grade 12 may apply to participate in open enrollment. Parents should call their resident school districts to find out if their preschool-aged children qualify for open enrollment.

The open enrollment application period for the 2022-23 school year is from February 7- April 29, 2022. Late applications will not be accepted for any reason.

Parents may apply in one of two ways:

● On-line (recommended) at https://dpi.wi.gov/open-enrollment. (Accessible as of February 7, 2022.)

● Although on-line application is recommended, paper applications may be obtained from the Student Information Services Manager at 215 South Eagle Street and must be delivered (hand-delivery is recommended) to the nonresident school district.
